Elsewhere, Real Oviedo …..and Girona….

Let’s take a look at how Saturday’s matches unfolded…

Alaves 1-1 Atletico Madrid

Los Rojiblancos look short on confidence, despite the huge investments made in new players by Simeone, and they were unable to find a winner in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The game started perfectly for Simeone as his son Giuliano steered home after a goalmouth scramble after just seven minutes.

However, that positivity was short lived as Carlos Vicente slotted home from the penalty spot after Nahuel Tenaglia was brought down.

Simeone made a host of changes late on, as substitute Antoine Griezmann volleyed against the post, but they head back to Madrid with two points from three games.

Real Oviedo 1-0 Real Sociedad

Real Oviedo clinched a slice of history at home to Real Sociedad as the Asturians battled out a first win since their top flight return this season.

After two losses in their opening games, including being brushed aside by Real Madrid last weekend, they ruthlessly claimed three points against La Real.

With chances at both ends in the first 45 minutes, Oviedo grabbed their opportunity, as Leandro Dendoncker fired home first goal for the club just before the break.

It was a rear guard effort after the restart, with Aaron Escandell called into action multiple times, but the hosts held on.

Girona 0-2 Sevilla

Two out form sides met in Catalonia with Girona and Sevilla both losing their opening two matches of 2025/26.

However, it was the visitors who make the long trip back to Andalucia with a key victory ahead of the international break.

Alfon Gonzalez’s crisp finish edged the away side in front on the half hour mark and Isaac Romero sealed the win after the restart.
