Manchester United are said to have received an approach from Real Betis on transfer deadline day regarding Christian Eriksen.

The midfielder has fallen down the Old Trafford pecking order over the last couple of seasons and he was tipped to leave the club in search of more regular game time this summer.

Fabrizio Romano claims a late offer for Eriksen arrived from Betis, who were met with swift rejection by both club and player.

Betis had been looking to improve their attacking midfield options following the departure of Nabil Fekir to Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates. Though they failed with a move for Eriksen, Betis were able to re-sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur, while striker Vitor Roque joined on loan from Barcelona.

Eriksen was also linked with a move back to Ajax, where he made his breakthrough as a teenage wonderkid in the late 2000s and early 2010s. However, the Dutch giants did not firm up an offer for the 32-year-old.

Earlier this week, Eriksen's agent, Martin Schoots, revealed the midfielder also had offers from Turkey, the Middle East and Major League Soccer, while there was 'informal contact' with Belgian side Anderlecht. Schoots was also confident that Eriksen's game time will increase in the coming months, when United begin their European and domestic cup campaigns.

Eriksen has played only four minutes of football for United so far this season, coming on at the end of Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to rivals Liverpool. He was an unused substitute in their 1-0 win against Fulham and 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as in their Community Shield defeat to Manchester City on penalties.
