Lacklustre Corinthians fall to Marreco in delayed futsal clash

On Thursday night, 18th, Corinthians returned to the court for the National Futsal League (LNF), to play a postponed match from the 13th round of the competition. Playing at the Arrudão Gymnasium, in Francisco Beltrão-PR, the Alvinegro faced Marreco and, in a lackluster match, ended up losing by 3 x 1. The only goal for Corinthians was scored by Monteros.

With the result, Timão remains in the eighth position of the first phase classification table, with 36 points earned - it is worth mentioning that the team already has a guaranteed place in the round of 16 of the competition. Corinthians returns to the court this Saturday, 20th, against Umuarama, in a match to be played at the Amario Vieira da Costa Gymnasium, at 8pm (Brasília time).

Coach Fernando Malafaia lined up Corinthians with an initial quintet formed by Kelvin, Caio Barros, Renatinho, Edimar and Rick. On the bench, Alvinegro had at its disposal Lucas Oliveira, Luisinho, Luiz Brizzi, Lucas Martins, Marlon, Israel Neto, Monteros, Andrey and Igor Carioca.

Marreco started with control of the actions, but Corinthians created the first clear chance when Luisinho shot after a mistake by Velloso, with a save on the line. In the next counterattack, Marreco opened the scoring: Meleca shot hard, Kelvin deflected, and Biel completed for the nets. At 6 minutes, Velloso tried a direct shot from the middle of the court, deflected by Meleca and almost surprising Kelvin.

The home team maintained superiority, limiting Alvinegro's chances. At 11 minutes, Renatinho wasted a Corinthians opportunity by shooting wide. After a technical stop requested by Marreco, Timão momentarily improved, forcing the fifth opponent's fault. However, in a quick counterattack, Murilo dribbled the defense and covered Kelvin to score the second goal at 14 minutes. Kelvin still made an important save on a strong shot from Murilo shortly after, keeping the score at 2 x 0 at halftime.

Corinthians returned more aggressive for the second half: Marlon and Luiz Brizzi combined on the side, with a finish on the post. Marreco responded with the third goal: Velloso launched Meleca, who touched over Kelvin. At 5 minutes, Edimar had a finish saved on the line. Marreco remained dangerous on the counterattack, with Kelvin saving a dangerous shot from Biel and then a bomb from Biru after a mistake by Luiz Brizzi.

At 12 minutes, Corinthians discounted: Luisinho won an individual duel and served Monteros, who finished against the goalkeeper. In the final pressure, Timão used a line goalkeeper with five attackers, but Pebinha almost scored the fourth goal for Marreco by scraping the post in a shot without a goalkeeper. The score ended 3×1 for the team from Paraná.
