Real Betis look set to miss out on a leading summer transfer target to La Liga rivals Girona.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Relevo, who point towards Ladislav Krejčí as the player in question.

Krejčí, for his part, is a 25-year-old Czech international, who is currently plying his trade in his home country with heavyweights Sparta Prague.

Long considered one of the standout talents in the Fortuna Liga, Krejčí chiefly lines out as a central defender.

His impressive abilities on the ball, however, mean that the seven-time capped international is also more than capable of stepping into midfield.

And Krejčí is a regular contributor in the final third, too, with his haul of 11 goals and seven assists across 39 appearances this season a real testament to his versatility.

Such endeavours saw the Czech hotly tipped for a move to Spain during the January transfer window, when Girona set their sights firmly on his services.

The Blanquivermells, in the end, missed out, but if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, it will not be long before Krejčí is indeed plying his trade in Catalunya…

As per the aforementioned MD, the player himself recently knocked back an approach on the part of Real Betis.

This comes with Krejčí having his heart set on a move to Girona.

The board at the Estadi Montilivi remain in constant contact with their counterparts at Sparta Prague regarding a summer deal, with it therefore concluded that the midfielder can be considered as ‘very close’ to joining Míchel’s Champions League-bound squad.
