LaLiga has launched a scheme offering €50 for each verified report of unauthorised football screenings in bars, restaurants, cafés and betting shops, active since late January.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Canal de Denuncias de LaLiga Bares is an online portal that lets people report suspected illegal broadcasts across the hospitality sector.
To qualify for payment, submissions must include clear photos of the TV, the venue’s exterior and the interior where the feed is visible. Reports must be identified, anonymous tips get no reward. Only the first valid report per venue and per sporting event will be paid.
If the on-screen corner lacks a “B” in bars or an “A” in betting shops, the screening may be unauthorised. Those letters indicate a licensed operator.
The drive aims to protect audiovisual rights and support compliant venues, while boosting public collaboration alongside inspections.
The initiative has drawn criticism from the hospitality trade, which argues paid tip-offs could damage cooperation with the league. José Luis Álvarez Almeida, president of Hostelería de España, has called for more balanced dialogue and fairer legal broadcasting rates instead.
There are no public figures yet on reports received or paid. The campaign runs until 28 February 2026 or until it reaches 1,000 reports.
