Lamine Yamal has set a new scoring landmark, becoming the youngest player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach 50 goals. The 19-year-old hit a brace in Barcelona’s 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, surpassing a mark once held by Kylian Mbappe.
Yamal struck into the top corner on 21 minutes at Spotify Camp Nou, then added a late second to take his Barcelona tally to 51. Barcelona confirmed after full-time that he had reached the 50-goal mark at 19 years and 49 days.
Mbappe did not reach 50 until 19 years and 241 days. Erling Haaland hit the milestone at 20 years and 196 days, underlining the scale of Yamal’s feat.
He is also the youngest in Barcelona’s history to reach the figure, staying ahead of Lionel Messi’s early pace. Messi hit 50 for the club at 21, while Josep Escola did so at 20.
Yamal made his professional debut in April 2023 at the age of 15 and has risen rapidly since. With the 50-goal barrier cleared, focus turns to how many more records he could chase as Barcelona look to re-establish themselves in Europe.
