Lamine Yamal’s home in Esplugues de Llobregat was the target of an attempted break-in in the early hours, shortly after the France v Spain World Cup match in which he played. The intruders were detected by private security and fled.
According to El Español, security cameras spotted two hooded individuals scaling a wall as they tried to access the property, which triggered the alarms.
A Mossos d'Esquadra patrol attended the scene and an investigation has been opened into whether the offenders form part of a gang that targets luxury homes on the outskirts of Barcelona.
Other attempted burglaries were recorded in nearby houses the same night, and investigators consider that the Barça player's property may not have been specifically targeted.
Whether more intruders were involved is also being examined, although only two appeared on camera.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos is leading the case.
