Spain opened their 2026 World Cup build-up at Las Rozas with an open first session attended by more than 2000 fans, as Javi Guerra took part in his maiden senior workout.
According to Superdeporte, the Campo A stands were full, with some supporters turned away, and the afternoon began with autographs before work on the grass.
21 of the 26 call-ups trained, including Pedro Porro after finishing with Tottenham. The nine support players, among them Guerra, worked with the squad.
Lamine Yamal continued the final stage of recovery from a left hamstring injury, while Nico Williams and Víctor Muñoz also eased back. The trio did part of the group work before moving to the gym.
Guerra cannot go to the World Cup because he is not in Luis de la Fuente’s initial 55-man long list, though he is relishing these first days. With Iraq visiting on four June, he could debut before the 26 selected depart for the Americas, and he has stated he wants to stay at Mestalla next season after renewing less than a year ago.
The squad will be reinforced in the coming days, with Yeremy Pino due Monday, Mikel Merino on Tuesday, then David Raya, Martín Zubimendi and Fabián Ruiz on Wednesday. De la Fuente said the sight of packed red stands was uplifting, and that after the La Coruña match on four June they will travel to the United States.
