FC Bayern turned around a game at SC Freiburg that seemed to be lost for a long time. Vincent Kompany and his team showed great morale in the process. In a spectacular final phase, several late goals ensured a historic comeback.
Munich trailed 2-0 in Freiburg until deep into the second half and were unable to find a solution against an aggressive home side for a long time. It was only in the final minutes that the game tipped completely in favour of the record champions.
FC Bayern thus made Bundesliga history: they became only the third team ever to turn a two-goal deficit into a win after the 80th minute. Werder Bremen had previously achieved this in August 2022, when the northern Germans came from 2-0 down late on to win 3-2 at Borussia Dortmund. They also managed to do it themselves once again, on 13 May 2017 in a 5-4 away win at RB Leipzig.
Freiburg were on level terms for long stretches and, after an intense first half without a goal, the hosts struck straight after the restart. Johan Manzambi put Sport-Club ahead before Lucas Höler made it 2-0 from a set-piece and caused Bayern major problems.

The record champions only found their way back into the game in the final phase. Tom Bischof reduced the deficit in the 81st minute with a long-range shot, initiating the comeback. Munich then increased the pressure considerably and pinned Freiburg back in their own half.
A double strike followed in stoppage time: First, Bischof scored again from a short corner to equalize. Shortly afterwards, Joshua Kimmich played the ball into the penalty area, Alphonso Davies crossed and Lennart Karl slotted in the winner to make it 3:2.
The late win means FC Bayern defend their comfortable lead at the top of the table, while Freiburg drop back in the battle for the international places after the bitter defeat.
