Hugo Larsson’s Sweden are into the play-off finals, with Rasmus Kristensen and Can Uzun also hopeful that their teams make progress. That and more in our international round-up.

Hugo Larsson’s Sweden are a step closer to securing their FIFA World Cup 2026 berth in Canada, Mexico and the USA after a Viktor Gyökeres hat-trick gave them a 3-1 win over Ukraine. This puts them through to the final round of the play-offs for the World Cup. Larsson was an unused substitute for the Tre Kronor, who will face Poland on Tuesday 31 March in one of four play-off finals.

Two more Frankfurt players will be keeping a keen eye on how these play-offs unfold, namely the injured Rasmus Kristensen and Can Uzun, who recently returned after a long absence. Denmark, who defeated North Macedonia 4-0 in their semi-final, will now face Czechia, while Türkiye, who beat Romania 1-0, take on Kosovo.
