Ricardo Pepi struck in the 86th minute to give PSV a 2-1 win over AZ. The forward's late intervention capped a busy display in Eindhoven.
Meeting Ivan Perišić's headed lay-off, Pepi hammered his finish into the roof of the net (86.).
Moments later he was withdrawn to applause as Peter Bosz tightened things (88.).
He ended with seven attempts, four on target, and 10 touches in the box, repeatedly pinning centre-backs. He also won three aerial duels, a constant outlet for crosses and second balls.
With the Boeren funnelling delivery from the left through Perišić, Pepi's movement across the near post and into central lanes kept AZ on the back foot and decided the key phase.
The Boeren host NEC Nijmegen next in the Eredivisie. AZ face Sparta Prague in the UEFA Conference League round of 16 first leg.
