Late goal earns Under-20s a draw with Cruzeiro in Brasileiro

On Wednesday afternoon (13), São Paulo’s U-20 team drew 2-2 with Cruzeiro at CFA Laudo Natel, in Cotia (SP), in the 11th round of the Brazilian U-20 Championship. The team’s goals were scored by Tetê and Léo.

The match started at a lively pace, with São Paulo enjoying more possession. In the 12th minute, Davi Pena passed to Tetê on the left side of the field, and the forward cut inside, beat three defenders, and fired a beautiful shot across goal to open the scoring. In the 30th minute, after a free-kick, the visitors equalized. Near the end of the first half, in the 43rd minute, Ryan tried a powerful shot from the edge of the box and hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the match remained balanced, but in the 28th minute, the visitors went ahead. In the 41st minute, Léo passed to Guilherme Reis, and the full-back got his shot away, but the opposing goalkeeper saved it with his feet. In the closing minutes, Lucyan took a shot, the defense cleared it, but the ball fell to Léo, who blasted it into the top corner to level the score.

With the result, Tricolor moved to 11 points and remains in the fight to qualify for the next stage. Júlio Baptista’s side returns to action next Sunday (17), when they will visit América-MG in Belo Horizonte.
