Tosin Adarabioyo is set to miss Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Sunday according to reports.
Chelsea host the Eagles at Stamford Bridge, and will be looking to get their season up and running with three points.
The Blues task might have been made slightly easier with the news Eberechi Eze is set to miss the game as he closes in on a move to Tottenham.
Tosin has established himself as an important member of the squad after joining on a free transfer from Fulham last summer.
The 27-year-old is a well respected member of the dressing room, and is one of a number of leaders in the squad currently.
Tosin is expected to have a big role this season, after it was confirmed Levi Colwill would miss the majority of the season with an ACL injury.

Colwill is Chelsea’s best option in the central centre back role in Maresca’s system, whilst Tosin is the only other member of the squad who can play that role.
However, the Blues have been dealt a blow after journalist for The Times Peter Rutzler confirmed he would miss the opening game.
He took to X.com and said:
“Exc: Tosin set to miss Chelsea’s clash with Palace tomorrow.
“Purely precautionary after feeling a small issue in training, and with Colwill out long term, #cfc don’t want to take any risks.”
In his absence it’s likely talented youngster Josh Acheampong will step in to partner Trevoh Chalobah in the heart of the Chelsea defence.
Maresca has made it clear he wants a new centre back to replace Colwill, and he once again said it publicly ahead of the Crystal Palace game.

The Italian doesn’t believe there’s anyone in the current squad who can replicate Colwill’s role to near the standard required.
With Tosin’s absence it could be a huge chance for Acheampong to stake his claim for a place in the team, and the youngster has reported interest from both Bournemouth and Manchester City.
