It has been a much-improved few weeks for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
The Owls were promoted from League One last season after beating Barnsley in the play-off final at Wembley in May, but it was a tough start to life back in the second tier.
Wednesday made their worst start to a season in their history, resulting in the sacking of Xisco Munoz in October, but performances and results have picked up significantly under Danny Rohl.
The Owls secured their third win in four games as they beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Hillsborough on Saturday, with late goals from Bailey Cadamarteri and Anthony Musaba sealing all three points after Bambo Diaby's first half own goal had given the R's the lead.
Wednesday currently sit 23rd in the table, six points from safety, and they are back in action when they host Cardiff City on Saturday.
Rohl will undoubtedly be keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, and it will likely be a busy month at Hillsborough which could define the Owls' prospects for the rest of the season.
According to The Star, one player on Wednesday's radar is Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper James Beadle, who is currently out on loan at Oxford United, but they face competition for his signature from Birmingham City.
Beadle has excelled for the U's this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 24 appearances in all competitions to help Des Buckingham's side to third in the League One table.
There has been speculation that Brighton could recall Beadle from Oxford in January to send him to a higher division, and he is known to the Owls' goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo after the pair worked together at the Amex Stadium,
Should Beadle make the move to South Yorkshire, it would raise serious questions over the future of Devis Vasquez, who joined Wednesday on loan from AC Milan this summer.
Vasquez started the season as the Owls' number one goalkeeper, but after a number of unconvincing performances, he was dropped for Cameron Dawson by caretaker manager Neil Thompson in the first game after Munoz's sacking against Huddersfield Town in October.
Rohl has stuck with Dawson since his arrival, and despite the 28-year-old coming in for criticism from some Wednesday supporters, he was praised by his manager after his penalty save in the win over Stoke City earlier this month.
"In the past, it wasn’t always easy for Cameron. He had some negative voices against him but now he saved the point against Leicester and now he was a player in the key moment today and he was fantastic," Dawson told The Star.
Dawson has impressed in recent weeks, firmly establishing himself as Rohl's first choice goalkeeper ahead of Vasquez, but Beadle is known for his ability with the ball at his feet, and with Rohl keen for his team to play out from the back, it is easy to see why he is an attractive option.
It seems likely that Beadle would be number one if he makes the move, pushing Vasquez further down the pecking order.
Beadle would also become the Owls' sixth loan player, and with new Head of Recruitment Kevin Beadell said to be an expert in loans, there could be more temporary arrivals at Hillsborough next month, meaning some of the existing deals will need to be terminated in order to create room in the squad.
Given his lack of game time, it seems inevitable that Vasquez's loan will be cancelled, while there are doubts over the futures of Momo Diaby, Jeff Hendrick, John Buckley and Ashley Fletcher.
Vasquez was an exciting signing for Wednesday, and a high-profile addition from a club the size of AC Milan, but it has not worked out for the Colombian, and a return to his parent club would be the right move for all parties.
