It’s still just Monday, but it feels like this is going to be a very busy week for Chelsea transfers.

There are a number of sales which are moving quickly, but there are still further incoming moves being debated.

One that has really burst into life in the last 12 hours is the potential move of Xavi Simons to Stamford Bridge.

The talented former PSG youth star has been mentioned countless times over the years in connection with a move to Chelsea, but it’s only now that it seems a real prospect. Fabrizio Romano mentioned us as a potential destination earlier this morning, and now top Bundesliga insider Florian Plettenberg has added more detail to that story.

Chelsea “most concrete” option for winger

Xavi Simons linked to Chelsea by Florian Plettenberg.

Plettenberg’s report goes very strong on Chelsea as an option for the RB Leipzig winger, who has made it clear he wants to come to the Premier League.

Chelsea apparently have “serious interest” in Simons and talks with his camp have already begun. Nothing has been started with his club yet, however.

“Chelsea are currently the most concrete option,” Plettenberg adds. With Noni Madueke having joined Arsenal, there has been some speculation about whether new signing Jamie Gittens would be a straight replacement, or whether the club were on the lookout for other additions.

Some doubts over Simons’ intentions

We have some doubts about this move – it’s a lot of money, and Chelsea are well stocked in attack at the moment. Simons wants guaranteed first team minutes, and won’t get that in a packed Chelsea squad. Are we really likely to be his chosen move? Or is our interest just being used as leverage?

Arsenal are “monitoring” and Bayern are “not in the race so far.” It sounds like this talk is meant to kick them into gear a little.
