OGC Nice have signed Laurent Abergel on a free after his release from Lorient. The 33-year-old midfielder has agreed a three-season deal, running until 2030.
The player said in a statement that after seven years at Lorient he had given everything and was leaving with that feeling.
A Marseille native, Abergel joined Lorient in 2019 and made 233 appearances, scoring nine goals with 14 assists. He won Ligue 2 in 2020 and 2025.
He captained Lorient and had voiced disappointment following the announcement of head coach Olivier Pantaloni’s departure.
Abergel will reunite with Pantaloni at Nice, the Corsican having arrived in mid-June, after working together in Morbihan. Nice, who stayed up via the play-offs against Saint-Étienne, are reshaping several areas.
