Nice midfielder Laurent Abergel, 33, has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and faces several months out.
The club said in a statement that tests over the weekend and on Monday confirmed a rupture in his right knee. He had gone off 17 minutes into Saturday's friendly in Cagliari.

He had been due to face former club Lorient on the opening weekend of Ligue 1, but will not feature.
The announcement was made at 15:00 on Monday.
