Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle have been called up to the United States squad, as the World Champions begin preparations for the Olympics.

The pair have been selected in Vlatko Andonovski's 27-player camp, in which the squad will train in Orlando before facing Colombia twice at the Exploria Stadium on 18 and 22 January.

The double-header marks the US' first domestic games since the 2020 SheBelieves Cup.

In November, the World Cup winners defeated the Netherlands in their first game in 261 days with a 2-0 victory in Breda, in which City star Lavelle netted a wondergoal.

Although Lavelle's start to life in Manchester has been hampered by injury, the midfielder has still managed to bag two goals in nine games and help the team to FA Cup success.

Meanwhile, 2020 US Female Player of the Year Mewis has hit the ground running in sky blue, scoring six goals in 17 games in all competitions, including crucial strikes in the FA Cup Final and her Champions League debut.

Sam's sister Kristie Mewis has also been called up for her country, as has former City star Carli Lloyd.

Congratulations all.
