After signing Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza, Lazio are aiming to recruit another Spaniard in Sergi Dominguez.
The 21-year-old is an academy product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy. The local boy cemented himself as one of the most promising young defenders at the club. He became a regular feature with the Blaugrana’s second team between 2023 and 2025, and even made a few appearances with the senior squad.
Due to strong competition for places, Dominguez had to leave his boyhood club last summer. The Catalan giants sold him to Dinamo Zagreb for €1.2 million. This season, he made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists. The youngster helped the Croatian giants win the domestic double in his first season at the club.
In recent weeks, Dominguez emerged as a potential target for Lazio, who are searching the market for new defenders. According to La Repubblica (via Since 1900), the Biancocelesti have decided to accelerate their attempts to land the young defender.
The Italian capital side has already secured Pedraza on a free transfer, so the Barcelona academy product could be their second signing.
The Biancocelesti have reportedly reached an agreement with Gennaro Gattuso, who will replace Atalanta-bound Maurizio Sarri at the helm. Unfortunately for the incoming head coach, he might not be able to rely on the same solid defensive partnership as his predecessor, as Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli could both leave the club in the summer. Their contracts are only valid until June 2027.
Lazio may already have Romagnoli’s successor in the left-footed Oliver Provstgaard, while the right-footed Dominguez could be a natural replacement for his compatriot Gila.
