Lazio are reportedly interested in bringing Brentford attacking midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard back to the Italian peninsula.

Matteo Cancellieri Could Leave Lazio

Over the past few days, Matteo Cancellieri has been increasingly linked with an exit before Tuesday’s deadline, with Genoa emerging as his most concrete destination, albeit it’s not necessarily his most desirable. Most sources believe that Lazio would try to recruit a new attacking player should the right winger leave the club.

Lazio Negotiating a Move for Albert Gudmundsson

In recent hours, Fiorentina’s Albert Gudmundsson has surfaced as the favourite for the role, with the two clubs said to be making swift progress in their ongoing negotiations. The 29-year-old Iceland international is reportedly open to joining Gennaro Gattuso’s squad. Nevertheless, Il Messaggero reports interest in two other players.

Lazio Keeping Tabs on Esmir Bajraktarevic

The Biancocelesti are allegedly one of the clubs tracking Esmir Bajraktarevic, a 21-year-old Bosnian winger who has been playing his football at PSV Eindhoven since January 2025. However, the youngster has several other suitors vying for his services, with Eintracht Frankfurt said to be particularly keen.

Lazio Interested in Brentford Star Mikkel Damsgaard

The Roman newspaper also mentions Lazio’s interest in Damsgaard, a 26-year-old Danish international who rose to prominence during his two-year spell at Sampdoria. The midfielder’s exploits in Serie A earned him a €15 million move to Brentford in the summer of 2022. He has gone on to make 137 appearances for the Bees, contributing with eight goals and 19 assists.

Would Damsgaard Fit Lazio System

Damsgaard primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but he could also feature on the wings if required. The source believes he could vie for a starting role on the left against Mattia Zaccagni, with Tijjani Noslin serving as a backup for Gustav Isaksen on the opposite flank. Moreover, he could help Gennaro Gattuso switch from the current 4-3-3 formation to his favourite 4-2-3-1.
