According to Il Messaggero, Lazio have opened talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal that could swap Matteo Guendouzi for Giacomo Raspadori.
Maurizio Sarri had accepted to sell Taty Castellanos and one of Guendouzi or Nicolo Rovella on his June return, plans delayed by a summer transfer ban. With trading resumed, Lazio have agreed to sell Castellanos to West Ham for €30 million, and Guendouzi could depart.
Fenerbahce have emerged with a €25 million bid and a €four million annual salary for the French midfielder. Even so, Guendouzi is said to prefer reuniting with Regis Le Bris at Sunderland or joining Diego Simeone.
Simeone is described as determined to move for the former Arsenal and Marseille player. Lazio are exploring a swap to bring in Raspadori, long viewed as Sarri’s choice to replace Castellanos.
The report adds that the Spanish capital club had agreed to send Raspadori to Roma on loan with a possible obligation to buy. The player has not accepted, favouring a permanent switch, which Lazio would be ready to offer.
With Guendouzi valued at €30 million and Raspadori around €25 million, any exchange would require a cash adjustment in Lazio’s favour. It remains unclear if the operation is feasible, and Atletico are still keen on Guendouzi even without a swap.
