Lazio captain Zaccagni: ‘With our fans, maybe we don’t concede’ | OneFootball

Mattia Zaccagni believes Lazio are buying into Gennaro Gattuso’s methods, even if the 2-2 draw with Milan still stings.

The Biancocelesti captain spoke to DAZN, with quotes via AlfredoPedulla.com, at the Stadio Olimpico after his side had surrendered a two-goal half-time lead, with Diego Moreira scoring twice from the bench to rescue a point for the Rossoneri.

“We know the coach from the inside and you all know him from the outside,” Zaccagni said. “He is a person who makes you feel good and we try to take onto the pitch what he asks of us.”

Zaccagni says missing Lazio fans could have made the difference

The winger echoed Gattuso in pointing to the atmosphere at a sparsely populated Olimpico, where the fans again stayed away as part of their protest against Claudio Lotito.

“We said it to each other in the dressing room, if we had that extra push then maybe we would not have conceded the goal in that difficult moment,” he said.

Lazio had been excellent before the break, taking the lead through Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin, and Zaccagni felt the drop-off after half-time was as much physical as tactical.

“There were two different games. In the first half we played football of the highest level, we had a lot of chances to kill it off. In the second half we dropped too deep, we were on our last legs, but we are happy, even if it is logical that it hurts.”
