Lazio coach Marco Baroni previews Rome derby: “We are determined to beat them.” | OneFootball

Lazio manager Marco Baroni addressed the media on the eve of the Derby della Capitale with Roma.

“I don’t think there has historically been a derby played so close together after a match in Europe,” said Baroni, although this claim does not ring true given Roma had to play on several occasions the derby immediately after a European fixture, on 17 March 2022 after facing Vitesse in the Conference League or 16 March 2023 when the Giallorossi faced Lazio after playing Real Sociedad.

“It doesn’t matter, the derby can be played after another match because it’s an extraordinary game. I think that playing in front of our fans will give us unimaginable energy.”

“Tomorrow we know what we have to do, we feel that we have to play a game of rigor, of desire and from this point of view I am convinced that we will have the necessary energy, beyond the little time we have had.”

“It’s not just one player who can contain Dovbyk, it’s the whole team that has to do it, and we will do it,” he added.

“In the last 15 games, Roma is first together with Inter. It is indisputable that at this moment they are the best of all, but we are determined to beat them.”
