Lazio lost the services of Danilho Doekhi, who hurt his hand, and will thus be replaced by fellow newcomer Josip Sutalo.

The Dutch defender has been ever-present in Gennaro Gattuso’s starting lineup since the start of the season. The 28-year-old was expected to feature once again on Saturday when the Biancocelesti will host AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.

But according to Radio Laziale (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Doekhi suffered a hand injury that required immediate surgical intervention. The former Union Berlin man will also skip next weekend’s contest against Venezia, before returning to action after the extended international break.

Josip Sutalo Set for Lazio Debut

With Doekhi ruled out of action, Gattuso will resort to Sutalo, giving the Croatian his club debut. The 26-year-old began his campaign with a physical problem, but he was on the bench during Lazio’s last two wins over Genoa and Udinese.

The Aquile have also recently signed Diogo Leite, giving the manager an additional option at the back. However, the left-footed Portuguese is more likely to challenge Oliver Provstgaard for a starting role in the coming weeks, while the right-footed Sutalo and Doekhi compete for the other spot.

Danilo Cataldi Back in Lazio Squad

On the other hand, Patric remains unavailable, and he was already omitted from the Serie A squad list, like Luca Pellegrini. Nicolo Rovella and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are also unavailable, but Danilo Cataldi has received his first call-up of the season after recovering from a groin injury.
