Lazio are reportedly exploring the opportunity to sign PSV Eindhoven right-back Richard Ledezma on a free transfer.
Several sources have reported the Aquile’s intention to sign Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo, whose contract will expire at the end of the season. Nevertheless, the 28-year-old Dominican might not be the only addition to the full-back department, as the right flank is also in dire need of fresh faces.
Manuel Lazzari, Adam Marusic and Elseid Hysaj are all above the age of 30, and they haven’t always impressed this season. So, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Lazio management has identified a couple of profiles to bolster the squad in the summer.
The source first mentions Jackson Tchatchoua who has enjoyed a solid campaign at Hellas Verona. The 23-year-old played under Marco Baroni last season, while Claudio Lotito would be able to pounce on his old alliance with counterpart President Maurizio Setti to strike an agreement. The two clubs have pulled off several deals in recent years, with Reda Belahyane being the most recent.
The Roman newspaper also reveals Lazio’s interest in a more internationally recognized profile in the shape of Richard Ledezma. The 24-year-old is a Phoenix native who started his career at Real Salt Lake Academy before being poached by PSV Eindhoven in 2019. The right-back rose through the ranks of the Dutch champions to become a first-choice player.
The USMNT star made 38 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing a single goal and an assist. However, his contract with PSV will expire next month, so he’ll be able to sign for a new club as a free agent.
Mexican giants Deportivo Guadalajara are reportedly keen to add Ledezma to their FIFA Club World Cup ranks, but Lazio remain in the race, as their Sporting Director, Angelo Fabiani, is well familiar with the player, and is reflecting on the move.
