Lazio have missed out on Carlos Alcaraz and Enzo Barrenechea who are both set to join other clubs.

The Italian capital side has been seeking a new midfielder to shore up Marco Baroni’s squad, and it seems that Michael Folorunsho is the main target after failing to bring in either one of the other two aforementioned players.

Carlos Alcaraz Set to Join Flamengo

Over the past few weeks, Lazio have been heavily linked with Alcaraz. The 21-year-old has been on Southampton’s books since January 2023 and spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Juventus.

However, the Argentine has now sealed a move to Flamengo who have been leading the race for his signature as of late. Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano posted a picture of Alcaraz with his Agent Seba Lopez after conducting his medical tests in London ahead of an imminent move to the Brazilian giants.

Lazio have also fallen short in their attempts to lure yet another former Juventus Argentinian midfielder.

Enzo Barrenechea Set to Join Valencia

Barrenechea has recently surfaced as a rumoured transfer target for the Biancocelesti. However, Romano reveals Aston Villa will send the 23-year-old to Valencia on loan while covering his salary.

The defensive midfielder has only recently signed for the Villains alongside Samuel Iling-Junior as counterparts for Douglas Luiz who headed to Juventus. However, neither new signing managed to earn a place in Unai Emery’s squad.

The English winger made a swift Serie A return through the gates of Bologna, while Barrenechea is now set for an experience in Spain.

Michael Folorunsho Remains Lazio’s Main Target

Therefore, Napoli wantaway Michael Folorunsho remains Lazio’s most concrete target to bolster the middle of the park in the final few days of the summer transfer session.
