Lazio fans sell out Bologna away end as anti-Lotito chants escalate | OneFootball

Lazio’s first away trip of the season saw the Stadio Dall’Ara’s visiting section sold out, with the hour before kick-off becoming a protest against president Claudio Lotito.

According to Lalaziosiamonoi.it, around 4,000 travelling supporters were in Bologna, the away end already full well before the start.

Shirts, scarves and flags packed the section and chants aimed at the ownership drowned out the pre-match music. The players went across during the warm-up to applaud, drawing loud cheers in return.

The stance follows a June announcement from organised groups that they would not renew season tickets or attend home matches, while committing to every away game and the Rome derbies.

Only an estimated 4,000 members renewed over the summer, down from 29,918 subscribers a year earlier.

The mood was reflected at the Olimpico on 16 August, when 5,528 attended the Coppa Italia defeat to Mantova, with more than 2,000 supporting the visitors.

Ultras have since labelled Lotito a dictator, and the boycott now extends to merchandise, pay-TV subscriptions and businesses linked to the president.
