While Roma remains the clear favorites to sign Giacomo Raspadori, Lazio feel they can still trump their arch-rivals by landing the Atletico Madrid star.
The Biancocelesti have agreed to sell Taty Castellanos to West Ham United for €30 million. This deal will certainly boost the Italian capital club’s accounts, but Maurizio Sarri will expect a replacement in the attack, and his favorite profile for the role remains Raspadori.

The 25-year-old joined Atletico Madrid last summer, but struggled to carve out a prominent role in Diego Simeone’s plans. Therefore, the former Sassuolo and Napoli start is eager to return to Serie A as soon as possible.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the LaLiga giants have already agreed to send Raspadori to Roma on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, the Giallorossi have yet to reach an agreement with the player’s agents, which leaves the door open for other suitors to pounce, particularly Atalanta and Lazio.
As the Roman newspaper explains, the Aquile could have an ace up the sleeve in the form of Nuno Tavares, as Atletico Madrid have enquired about the Portuguese’s services. The 25-year-old has been put on the transfer list, with Al-Ittihad emerging as his most keen admirers.
Nevertheless, if the Spanish capital side is truly interested in the out-of-favor left-back, then two clubs could work on a double deal that would see Raspadori join Sarri’s ranks. The Biancocelesti have already secured a replacement for Tavares in Villarreal’s Alvaro Pedraza, but it remains to be seen if he’ll arrive in January or the summer.
