Lazio ‘make contact’ with Gattuso, on three-man shortlist | OneFootball

Lazio have reportedly opened dialogue with Gennaro Gattuso, who is unattached after leaving the Italian national team.

After Saturday’s final-day win over Pisa, Maurizio Sarri said his time at Formello is nearing its end. He will meet president Claudio Lotito in the coming hours to seek a contract resolution. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio have made contact with Gattuso and further talks could follow.

Lazio have begun the hunt for Sarri’s successor in recent days, with Gattuso a profile long admired by Lotito.

The report adds that Gattuso had favoured Torino, who might part with caretaker Roberto D’Aversa, but talks stalled over pay for his staff. The 48-year-old has also had an offer from newly promoted Turkish top club Amedspor, which he is unlikely to accept.

The same report lists two other Italian coaches on the shortlist, Raffaele Palladino and Fabio Pisacane. Palladino will be relieved of his duties at Atalanta to make way for Sarri, while Pisacane led Cagliari towards safety in his first senior role.
