Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri will have to resolve some selection dilemmas ahead of the weekend’s Derby della Capitale clash against Roma.
After losing two of their first three Serie A contests, the Biancocelesti can ill-afford another defeat, especially in a fixture considered by their supporters as the most significant of the season. Therefore, Sarri will be keen to select the best possible lineup for Sunday’s early kickoff. However, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the manager remains uncertain about a few positions.
First of all, Sarri must decide whether to confirm Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as the box-to-box midfielder on the left side, or drop him in favor of Reda Belahyane. The Nigerian has been getting the nod since the start of the season, but hasn’t always impressed. On the contrary, the young Moroccan has been coming off the bench, and had a particularly memorable cameo against Hellas Verona.
Moreover, the Lazio manager will have a decision to make regarding Matteo Cancellieri, who was the club’s standout player in pre-season, but hasn’t managed to produce the goods since the start of the official action. The Italian risks being relegated to the bench in favor of 38-year-old Pedro, while Gustav Isaksen should be fit enough for a second-half cameo on the right wing.
In addition to these two selection headaches, Lazio’s technical staff will be keeping a close eye on Nicolo Rovella who has been dealing with a groin issue. The midfielder has recently completed a training session as he looks set to retain his starting berth at the heart of the lineup, while Danilo Cataldi will be ready to step up in case the Italy international is deemed unfit to start.
Lazio Probable XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Tavares; Guendouzi, Rovella (Cataldi), Dele Bashiru (Belahyane); Cancellieri (Pedro), Castellanos, Zaccagni.
