Lazio fullback Luca Pellegrini suffered a leg injury in a car accident on Friday, revealed the club in a statement posted on its official website.

For unclear reasons, the player’s car overturned, resulting in a road crash. Luckily, the player avoided serious damage, but the accident still caused him some physical harm as detailed by the club’s official note.

The SS Lazio medical staff announces that the footballer Luca Pellegrini, following the road accident that occurred today, has suffered a lacerated wound to the right leg and various contusive traumas.  The player is currently resting at his home in good condition and has already started the specific treatment for the case.  He will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring and in the next few days to further instrumental tests to quantify the recovery times.

Needless to say, Pellegrini will skip this weekend’s encounter against Udinese on the second matchday of the season. The 25-year-old wasn’t expected to start at the Stadio Friuli, but his absence leaves Marco Baroni short of options on the flanks.

Nuno Tavares is working towards full recovery, but the manager could once again give the nod to Adam Marusic on the left, while Manuel Lazzari remains on the right flank. In the meantime, Lazio can only wish Pellegrini a speedy recovery. The former Juventus and Roma left-back has been plying his trade at Formello since January 2023.
