Lazio and Roma are among several clubs monitoring young Anderlecht defender Jan-Carlo Simic.
The Serbian centre-back was born and raised in Germany. He started his career at Stuttgart before moving to AC Milan in the summer of 2022. The 19-year-old emerged as one of the most promising players at the club’s academy, and was promoted to Stefano Pioli’s first team last season.
Despite showing immense potential, the Rossoneri agreed to sell him to Anderlecht last summer for €3 million. The player later stated the lack of playing time at Milan as the main reason behind his desire to leave.
This season, Simic established himself as a true pillar at the back for the Belgian giants, making 44 appearances in all competitions. He also displayed his knack for goals by scoring on four occasions and providing two assists.
According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the Serbian international could make a return to Serie A sooner rather than later, as Lazio, Roma and Fiorentina are all interested in his services. Moreover, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are also keeping tabs on the situation, as they could attempt to lure him back to his native Germany.
Lazio have already signed a young centre-back last January in the shape of Oliver Provstgaard, but there could still be room for another promising defender, as the futures of Patric and Samuel Gigot remain uncertain, while Mario Gila has been attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
