Sources in Brazil continue to link Lazio striker Taty Castellanos with Flamengo who will reportedly try again in January.

The Background

The 26-year-old has been the Biancocelesti’s first-choice centre-forward since Ciro Immobile’s departure in the summer of 2024. The Argentinian scored 14 goals under Marco Baroni last season, and has been confirmed as a regular starter following Maurizio Sarri’s return.

Castellanos opened his account last weekend by scoring a goal in the 4-0 pummeling of Hellas Verona, while also producing two assists, including a phenomenal rabona.

Nevertheless, the Argentina international has been constantly tipped to leave the club in recent months, with reports claiming he’s not entirely happy in the Italian capital. While West Ham United was mentioned as a potential destination, the striker has been heavily linked with Flamengo.

Due to the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, Lazio weren’t able to sign any players this summer, which meant that the hierarchy closed the door on any major departures. The only first-team player to leave Formello was Loum Tchaouna, who sealed a move to Burnley.

Nevertheless, the Aquile are expected to lift the ban in the coming months. Hence, Brazilian journalist Fabrizio Lopes (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) reveals that Flamengo will try again for Castelannos in January, as they believe they stand a better chance at succeeding since the Serie A club would be able to replace the attacker.

Castellanos Wants Brazil Move?

Lopes also claims that Castellanos is ‘pushing’ for a return to South America, and is enticed by the opportunity to play for Brazilian giants who are searching for a new centre-forward who can be an upgrade on Pedro (the 28-year-old striker who had a forgettable spell at Fiorentina).
