Lazio want Porto to raise their proposal for Nuno Tavares, and are open to a deal only on improved terms.
According to The Laziali, Porto’s latest package is a loan worth €two million with an option to buy, figures that have not convinced Lazio. Arsenal hold a 35% sell-on clause.
Alfonso Pedraza’s arrival means the Biancocelesti must move on either Tavares or Luca Pellegrini. Offloading the Portuguese defender could bring a bigger profit and remove a net salary of about €two and a half million per year.
Tavares was linked earlier in the summer with clubs in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, but Porto have recently emerged as his most likely destination. He developed in the academies of Benfica and Sporting CP.
The left-back made a flying start to 2024/25 and quickly became a fan favourite before injuries checked his progress. Last season he initially struggled to adapt to Maurizio Sarri’s more defensive and disciplined approach, spending long spells on the bench.
