Lazio ‘to move for’ Davide Frattesi as Inter look to clear space for Curtis Jones | OneFootball

Lazio are exploring a renewed move for Davide Frattesi, with the Inter Milan midfielder seen as a possible departure this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Italy international could leave the Serie A champions, with Lazio’s interest rekindled in recent days.

La Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Frattesi’s exit could be important for Inter, who need to free a slot before pushing on for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, a long-standing target.

Frattesi spent time in Lazio’s academy before joining Roma’s youth in 2014, then broke through at Sassuolo, earning a €35 million switch to Inter in summer 2023. In his first two years he built a super-sub reputation, but after Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi he slipped further down the order, especially following Petar Sucic’s arrival.

Inter and Lazio have maintained good relations, illustrated by Ivan Provedel’s move earlier this summer. It remains unclear if Inter would accept an initial loan, with Lazio not in a position to buy outright amid current restrictions.

At Lazio, Frattesi could operate as the third midfielder alongside Nicolo Rovella and Kenneth Taylor in a four-three-three, and he can also play behind the striker if Gennaro Gattuso opts for his favoured four-two-three-one.
