Lazio 'to target' Roberto Piccoli in striker search | OneFootball

Lazio are scouring the market for a striker, and according to The Laziali, Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli has moved to the top of their list. Sassuolo’s Andrea Pinamonti is an alternative, but Piccoli is preferred.

The Biancocelesti parted company with Taty Castellanos in January and brought in Petar Ratkov, who has yet to score. The Serbian is expected to remain, with the hierarchy urging Gennaro Gattuso to help him settle.

Firepower is short, so a signing is anticipated this summer regardless of whether Boulaye Dia stays or goes.

Piccoli, 25, came through Atalanta’s academy before several top-flight stints. Fiorentina paid €25 million to sign him from Cagliari last summer, and he delivered 44 appearances, nine goals and two assists.

In recent weeks, Fabio Grosso has taken charge at the Viola and plans a 4-3-3 with Moise Kean leading the line. Without European football, Piccoli would likely face a bench role if he remains.

That scenario could make a switch to Rome appealing, but Lazio may struggle to match his book value in a net-zero market. A loan with an option or an obligation to buy is seen as the only plausible route, subject to Fiorentina’s stance.
