Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Lazio are tracking Andreas Schjelderup and Kerim Alajbegovic as they assess long-term options on the left wing.
Maurizio Sarri initially pushed for a reunion with Lorenzo Insigne, but the hierarchy felt he was too old for the project. Sporting director Angelo Fabiani instead brought in Daniel Maldini on loan with an option to buy from Atalanta, and Sarri has mostly used him as a striker.
The club are expected to continue seeking a successor to Mattia Zaccagni. The captain remains central to the side, but he turns 31 next June and has had more injury issues in recent seasons.
Schjelderup, pursued in January, came through at Bodo/Glimt, then Nordsjælland, before joining Benfica in summer 2023. The 21-year-old has been a regular under Jose Mourinho this season, with five goals and three assists in 32 appearances in all competitions. The coach resisted a mid-season exit, but a summer move might be more feasible.
Alajbegovic, 18, already has six senior caps for Bosnia. Born in Cologne, he came through FC Köln and Bayer Leverkusen, moved to RB Salzburg last summer for €2 million, and is a regular starter, with 32 games, 11 goals and three assists this term. The report said Lazio made an enquiry during talks over Petar Ratkov with Salzburg last month.
