After overcoming Viktoria Plzen in the Round of 16, Lazio have booked a meeting with Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Road to Quarter-Finals

The Biancocelesti finished the group stage on top of the 36-team table, thus advancing directly to the Round of 16. On the other hand, the Norwegians had to negotiate a play-off double header against Twente, beating the Dutch side 6-4 on aggregate.

However, the situation differed in the previous round. While the Laziali had to labor their way past Plzen thanks to Alessio Romagnoli’s header in the second leg, Bodo/Glimt strolled past Olymiakos after winning the first leg by three unanswered goals.

Lazio vs Bodo/Glimt: Dates & Times

But due to their superior position in the table, Lazio will enter the contest as the seeded team, something they’ll be able to enjoy for as long as they remain in the tournament. Hence, the first leg will take place at the Aspmyra Stadion in Norway on April 10th (kickoff at 18:45 CET), while the return fixture will be held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on April 17th (21:00 CET).

Experience in Rome

These two contests will be the first official meetings between the two clubs. However, Bodo/Glimt are well familiar with the Olimpico having famously played against Roma on four occasions in the Conference League during the 2021/22 season.

The first one ended with a humiliating 1-6 defeat for the Giallorossi which Lazio fans still remember fondly, but Jose Mourinho’s men avenged themselves in the quarter-finals and went on to clinch the tournament in its inaugural edition.

Lazio Set for Third Quarter-Final Appearance in Europa League

It should also be noted that this will be Lazio’s third quarter-final appearance in any European competition since 2000, with all of them occurring in the Europa League. However, the Aquile have never managed to progress to a European semi-final in the current century, having been eliminated at the hands of Fenerbahce in 2012/13 and RB Leipzig in 2017/18.
