Lazio legend Ciro Immobile will be treated to a warm welcome by the fanbase as well as the hierarchy as he faces his former employers for the first time since leaving the club.

The Background

The 35-year-old enjoyed eight unforgettable years at the Stadio Olimpico, before leaving for Besiktas in the summer of 2024. Since his transfer to Turkiye almost came out of the blue, the Italian bomber never had the opportunity to bid the Biancocelesti supporters a proper farewell. Therefore, Lazio will be looking to make up for it on Sunday.

Ciro Immobile Returns from Injury Just in Time for Lazio Clash

After spending a solitary year in Istanbul, Immobile returned to Bologna last summer. Unfortunately for the Euro 2020 winner, he suffered a hamstring injury on his club debut against Rome at the Stadio Olimpico.

But as fate would have it, he made a timely recovery from injury, returning for a brief cameo against Parma in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, so he will be available to play against Lazio this weekend.

Lazio Will Pay Tribute to Immobile

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile will honor their all-time top scorer with a jersey bearing the number 207, the number of goals he netted during his unparalleled stint at Formello. The homage could also include a video tribute containing some of the Italian’s most memorable moments at Lazio.

Will Immobile Take Part in the Action?

Following his long injury ordeal, Immobile is highly unlikely to be included in Vincenzo Italiano’s starting lineup, not to mention the stern competition for the striker role, as Santiago Castro and Thijs Dallinga are also vying for the same role. Nevertheless, the veteran could earn a late cameo as was the case in midweek.
