Lazio have lost the services of Matteo Cancellieri, who has been ruled out of action for several weeks with a muscle injury.
The 23-year-old spent the previous two campaigns on loan at Empoli and Parma, but took full advantage of Lazio’s transfer ban to regain his place in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, especially following his impressive pre-season exploits. The winger has been the club’s most in-form attacker in recent weeks, as evidenced by the three brilliant goals he scored against Genoa and Torino.
Sadly for the Biancocelesti, Cancellieri picked up a knock at the worst possible time, with the squad already pared down to the bones. The Italian only lasted 20 minutes in Sunday’s away contest against Atalanta, before leaving his place on the pitch to Gustav Isaksen.

According to Il Messaggero, the player’s medical tests have detected a muscle strain in his left hamstring. Therefore, he’s expected to stay on the sidelines for a period lasting between 20 and 28 days.
In addition to Sunday’s big showdown against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico, Cancellieri will also miss the midweek trip to Pisa and the following home fixture against Cagliari. He will likely have to skip the clash against Inter Milan at San Siro on November 9, before returning after the international break. He should be fit enough to play against Lecce on November 23.
