Lazio are expected to welcome back Toma Basic and Mattia Zaccagni for the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico.
On Saturday the sides staged a dress rehearsal at a deserted Olimpico, La Dea winning 2-0. According to Il Messaggero, Basic will rejoin training this week and will definitely get minutes beforehand, while Zaccagni will certainly be available for the cup tie.
It remains unclear if Basic will be ready to start at Cagliari this weekend or against Torino on the first of March. The Croatian sustained a slight muscle issue against Juventus a week ago, went off at half-time, and then missed the quarter-final in Bologna and the weekend league game.
Zaccagni has been sidelined since late January with a Grade II abdominal strain, missing four matches in all competitions. He wants to be called up for the Sardinian trip, though that is still doubtful.
Maurizio Sarri’s team showed flaws on Saturday, with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru largely ineffective in midfield and the front three short of spark. The coach will be eager to restore balance with both players back.
Mario Gila, withdrawn at half-time against Atalanta, has inflammation of the patellar tendon in his left knee. He is due to have MRI scans between Monday and Tuesday to assess the extent of the problem.
