Regis Le Bris confirmed that Wilson Isidor is a doubt for Sunderland’s clash against Brentford on Wednesday.
Isidor missed Sunderland’s one-all draw with Tottenham at the weekend with what Le Bris described as a “minor injury”.
Dan Ballard missed the two matches previous to the Spurs clash with an ankle injury but came on in the second half to help his side to a draw. The Sunderland boss gave updates on the pair.
“We’ll see this morning,” Le Bris said on Isidor. “He’ll have a test in this morning on the pitch to see if he can be available.”
“Dan Ballard is ok after the weekend. Everyone else is available at the minute.”
Alongside Isidor’s absence through injury, Sunderland had six players missing against Spurs due to their involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Le Bris was asked if he has any plans to strengthen his squad in January: “Nothing at the minute,” he said.
“The period is really interesting because it’s tough and even with several absentees, the level of the squad remains really consistent, which is really positive.
“It shows the depth of the squad, the versatility of three or four of our players, which is really useful for game management. So if we can improve and reinforce the squad, I think we’ll try, but this information is really important for the next transfer window.”
The Frenchman was also asked if anyone will leave the club this window: “Probably after Everton, we’ll have a period to have different conversations with the players because so far it has probably not been the best period,” he said.
“And for the players with less game time, they want to play because this is a normal life for footballers. So we’ll see if it’s possible.”
