Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has backed the club’s transfer strategy despite admitting the market has been slower than usual this summer.
The Black Cats have had a quiet summer compared to some of their rivals but Le Bris suggested more additions will arrive.
“I trust the club, I trust the process, as usual, because we are well connected,” Le Bris said.
“If we don’t have the new signings (before) the season, there is a reason. It’s not because we don’t want to achieve the targets, it’s just because it’s not possible at the minute.
“The market is a bit different. We don’t have the same targets, first of all, and the market is a bit slower than usual.”
Le Bris believes inflated transfer fees are also having a knock-on effect across the market.
“Some clubs, as well, overpaid for some players and it doesn’t help the following situation because if a club pays £50m rather than the real value around £20m, then the next signings will want to align with the same,” he added.
“Until the last week, probably, this effect will apply.”
