Le Chambon-sur-Lignon’s Bel Horizon has long attracted professional clubs, and six teams will base pre-season camps there this summer. According to Le Progres, the Plateau venue remains in high demand.

The men’s visitors are Sochaux, Grenoble, Toulon and Troyes, with ASSE and Grenoble representing the women’s sides. Grenoble Women will stay at the Gîte de la Vigne, underlining that elite sport uses more than Bel Horizon.

Troyes have been promoted to Ligue 1 and Sochaux to Ligue 2 after last summer’s camps on site. Toulon return for the tenth time, and Grenoble are back for a ninth straight year.

Clubs cite clean air, altitude, cool nights and an excellent pitch. The surface benefits from climate and the work of municipal groundsman Romuald Gallinet, whom several clubs, including Grenoble, have tried to hire.

Local partners add variety with golf, the Parcours aventure de l’écureuil high-ropes course, Alt’e Sensations mountain bikes, paintball and the Devesset lake.

Sochaux train from eleven to eighteen July, Grenoble eighteen to twentyfive July, Troyes twentyfive July to one August, Toulon one to six August. Friendlies: Sochaux v Grenoble on eighteen July, Troyes v Grenoble on twentyfive July.

ASSE Women visit six to nine August, Grenoble Women eight to ten August, with a friendly on eight August.

The men’s Saint-Etienne side will not attend due to calendar uncertainty, not human issues or the new coach. They remain keen to return and important to Bel Horizon. Kick-off times are to be confirmed and will be announced in advance.
