Half-time at the Stade Océane, Le Havre and Lyon are level at 0-0, with Diaw outstanding for the hosts. The goalkeeper denied Endrick repeatedly and foiled Abner and Hateboer to keep the game goalless.

Lyon returned to Ligue 1 after a taxing 1-1 draw in Vigo on Thursday in the Europa League. According to Le Progres, they travelled with nine absentees and Paulo Fonseca said his side would keep playing their game and press high. Suspended defender Clinton Mata did not make the trip.

Lyon kicked off and pressed high, but Le Havre threatened on the break as Samatta and Soumaré tested Descamps. Endrick then broke clear after Sangante lost the ball, his side-foot effort flashing just wide with Diaw beaten.

Karabec teed up Endrick with a clever back-heel, Diaw saving at close range. Boufal’s teasing cross from the left was chested away by Niakhaté in front of Gouna. Tolisso and Koffi needed treatment after a counter-attack collision, both continued.

Diaw produced a superb double stop, first from Abner then with his foot to deny Hateboer’s cross-shot. He palmed away another fierce drive from Abner soon after. Boufal’s 35-metre free-kick was held by Descamps and Niakhaté shook off a knock.

From a Lyon set piece, Endrick’s quick, rising effort on the edge of the box was beaten out by Diaw, who also blocked another strike from Endrick. Tagliafico and Karabec were booked before the interval.
