Le Havre and Monaco played out a locked 0-0, with stand-in keeper Lionel Mpasi outstanding and George Ilenikhena largely anonymous.
According to L'Équipe, Mpasi started for the absent Mory Diaw, who was allowed to remain at home to celebrate Senegal’s AFCON win. He was assured with his feet and in the air, and tipped away a Balogun shot that seemed to be heading under the bar.
At 29 minutes Faes went off with an ankle sprain, Dier came on. Half-time saw Mbwana Samatta replaced by Issa Soumaré, then on 57 minutes Ilenikhena made way for Fati. Kenny Quetant departed for Boufal on 65 minutes, and Dier later went off on 71, Teze taking his place.
Arouna Sangante earned seven, using power and sharp reading to snuff out danger. Thilo Kehrer rated six, a steady presence in Monaco’s back line as partners Dier, Mawissa, Salisu and Faes suffer injuries.
Ilenikhena scored three, rarely moved in the flow of play and his decisions on the ball were questionable, the attempted understanding with Balogun did not convince. Samatta also received three after offering little threat in behind, Soumaré’s half-time cameo was a four. Quetant took a four too, short of power against Monaco’s defenders.
Dier was unrated, his encouraging interventions cut short by a thigh problem, possibly a hamstring relapse, before Teze replaced him. Denis Zakaria, Monaco’s captain, was a four, tidy but too cautious to drive his team.
