Bankes will be assisted by Neil Davies and Steve Meredith, with Tom Bramall acting as the fourth official. Marc Perry will be the reserve assistant referee.

On VAR, John Brooks will be assisted by Dan Robathan, completing the team of officials.

The appointment of Bankes as the referee is an interesting one, as Bankes also refereed Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final second leg.

The Gunners are now set to have the same referee for two League Cup games in a row.

Bankes also refereed Arsenal’s 4-1 away win over Tottenham Hotspur last month, so the team have had a couple of good results with the official recently. Though it’s worth highlighting his other Arsenal game this season was the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Funnily enough, Manchester City have the same record with Bankes this season, losing their first game against Spurs but winning the next two against Leeds United home and away. Perhaps that makes him a good choice for the final.
