Cardiff City continued their relentless march towards promotion with a commanding 4-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night, stretching their unbeaten league run to 12 matches.
Goals from Joel Colwill, Perry Ng, Ollie Tanner and Omari Kellyman sealed another impressive win for Brian Barry-Murphy’s side, who remain four points clear at the top of League One.
It was their eighth victory during this unbeaten spell and further evidence that the Bluebirds are setting the pace in the division. Second-placed Lincoln City remain in pursuit after their win over Northampton Town, but Bolton’s draw at Reading leaves the third-placed Trotters 12 points behind Cardiff.
While the consistency is impressive, the most striking statistic from Tuesday’s result underlines just how dominant Cardiff have become.
For the first time this season, an EFL side now boasts a better goal difference than Coventry City’s +30 - and it is Cardiff. The Bluebirds moved to +31 after taking their league tally to 62 goals scored and just 31 conceded.
Across the top four tiers of English football, no side has more league wins than Cardiff’s 21. Furthermore, no club in ‘The 92’ has scored more goals in all domestic competitions this season, with the Bluebirds hitting 77 in total.
Their form in 2026 has been equally eye-catching. No team in 'The 92' has collected more points this calendar year than Cardiff’s 22, and they are one of only five clubs across ‘The 92’ yet to taste league defeat in 2026 - alongside Manchester United, Lincoln City, Grimsby Town and Bromley.
Momentum is firmly with Barry-Murphy’s side, and their balance between attack and defence makes them the clear frontrunners.
They return to action on Saturday with a trip to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle, aiming to extend their remarkable run even further.
