Leapmotor are finalising a two-year sponsorship with Palmeiras to place their brand on the back of the men's, women's and academy shirts, paying about R$ 20 million per season, according to Nosso Palestra. Talks advanced after the departure of Fictor.
At the outset, the agreement does not include the primary front-of-shirt slot for academy teams. Palmeiras will negotiate that inventory separately, a change from the arrangement previously in place with Fictor.
Having recently entered the Brazilian market, the Chinese electric-vehicle maker is banking on the club's visibility after a run of titles across its teams to stimulate interest and sales in the country.
The push also comes as BYD have moved into football by sponsoring Corinthians and expressing an interest in Morumbi's naming rights. Leapmotor see participation as necessary to compete in a fast-growing sector in Brazil.
Leapmotor have already stepped into South American football by sponsoring Universidad Católica in Chile, months after starting operations there. The company is looking to replicate that approach with Palmeiras.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor is led by founder Zhu Jiangming, an electrical engineer with more than 30 years of technical experience, and is headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It focuses on the design, research and development and manufacturing of electrified vehicles, covering intelligent driving, electric motor control, battery systems and cloud-based vehicle networking. In Brazil, the brand launched officially in November 2025 and is a member of Stellantis, whose marques include Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Citroën and Peugeot.
