Leapmotor has expressed interest in sponsoring Palmeiras following the departure of Fictor, according to Nosso Palestra.

The brand, new to the Brazilian market, views the club’s reach and recent success across all levels as a platform to drive awareness and sales in the country.

With BYD entering football by sponsoring Corinthians and targeting Morumbi’s naming rights, Leapmotor sees a need to join the space to compete in a rapidly growing sector in Brazil.

The company has already stepped into South American football by backing Universidad Católica in Chile, months after starting operations there, and is looking to replicate that with Palmeiras.

Founded in 2015, Leapmotor is led by founder Zhu Jiangming, an electrical engineer with more than 30 years of technical experience, and is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

Its business spans intelligent electrified vehicle design, research and development, manufacturing, intelligent driving, electric motor control and battery systems, along with cloud-based vehicle network solutions.

In Brazil, the company launched in November 2025 and is a member of Stellantis, the automotive group that includes Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Citroën and Peugeot.
